Afghan Defense Ministry has taken practical steps to defend the possible insurgents’ attacks in the areas after being recaptured, officials said Monday.
Recently, John Nicholson, commander of U.S. forces in Afghanistan reportedly has said that within two years the insurgents will be driven out of the areas where currently being controlled by them.
Following Nicholson’s comments, the Defense Ministry said they have considered effective plans to limit the insurgents’ scale of attacks by deploying special forces in the recaptured areas.
“In order to maintain the areas, the Defense Ministry has considered a clear policy,” the Defense Ministry Spokesman, Dawlat Waziri said. “Afghan Border Forces and Civil Order Forces of the Interior Ministry will be included in the Defense Ministry establishment and issue will be announce soon.”
The Interior Ministry, however, emphasized that the Afghan military forces are leading the war against the insurgents and the forces need further support of foreign military.
“Afghan forces have made progress to stand against the insurgents and defend the people and the country,” Acting Spokesman of the Interior Ministry, Najib Danish said. “We appreciate the supportive role of the foreigners in ending the ongoing war.”
